His friend had been on his mind constantly. True, Jowan had lied to him about being a blood mage and it practically lead him to...all of the events he experienced up to now. Even so, Rhys -wants- to find it in his heart to forgive his friend- his only friend from the Tower. But he wants Jowan to know.

Was it a good idea to send him back to the Tower? Could he have possibly convince Arl Eamon to release him when he had the chance?

Maker, what if they made him Tranquil?

Rhys buries his face in his hands, letting out a long sigh before staring at the ground.]

[Rhys looks up.]

Hm? Oh, no. I am just...thinking.

I do not know if I should...but judging from what I have experienced so far, I assume you are a Grey Warden also? And a mage at that?

Somewhat. But there are a lot of things out there that can be more than eerie.

[Still, he can't help but twiddle his thumbs when he asks:] So you must know Jowan?

[Ah, figured as much.]

Then I am sure you can understand my hesitation in talking about it.

...would you like to talk about it first? [Seeing as Karagen seems more upset that Rhys is. Or perhaps it's the same level and that they just have different ways of showing (and hiding) it.]

[Rhys shrugs but gestures his hand in a patting motion.] It's not wise to do the former, though neither will change anything.

Talking might help a little though, from what I have learned anyway.

[Looks away for a moment.] Jowan did lie... [And that was what had hurt the most.]

We've both made similar decisions then. [Though his primary concern was Jowan after he was sent back to the Tower.] But what happened in the Tower with Jowan and Lily could not have been help- [Oh, Maker. A fellow mage- a human, but a fellow mage nonetheless is crying next to him. Rhys isn't one comfortable to give physical comfort, but he did place a hand on the other's shoulder.] I thought about what I could have done back then too, but after some contemplation, I concluded that there wasn't anything I- we could have done. It was to either destroy his phylactery or tell the First Enchanter...

[Rhys nods and smiles a little.] Please continue, if you have more to say.

I see. [Scratches his cheek. Jowan never hit him as the sort of man who was...attracted to other men. Then again, what kind of "sort" is that? Zevran sort? ...no.]

I don't know how that can be answered, especially now. [But he loved Lily, is what Rhys wants to say but...]

[Rhys eyed the blood on the other mage's robe for a while before shaking his head.

He wanted to say that probably nothing would have changed. It was either becoming tranquil or escape- with or without Lily. But it wasn't his business to argue.]

I'm sorry. [Was all he could say to him. And probably himself.]

[Rhys scoots back a little, still sitting.] You were actually happy in the Tower?

[Nods.] I understand the feeling. I think most of the Wardens here feel that way.

But you know, despite the circumstances, I actually enjoy it. I have never been outside of the Tower before so to be able to travel this much and have this freedom- without the label of being an apostate [or maleficar, he mentally added] and being chased by Templars...it is rather...well, I don't know of "refreshing" is the right word to describe it. [He chuckles at himself, for looking at the "bright side" for a change.]

I suppose we are making things better in Ferelden, getting involved in politics and fighting darkspawn. [But who's to say that the world could be worse without them?]

[He nods.] It is. And here I thought I needed someone to talk to, but speaking to you sort of killed two birds with one stone.
